Decision-making scheme for appraisal of long-term requirements for infrastructure and land
The goal of the research project “Sustainability Check for a Demography-resilient Infrastructure Development” is the design of a web-based sustainability check for a sustainable infrastructure and land use planning. This tool shall give actors in politics and administration an additional, helpful support in the decision making process. The rating system is based on the concept of sustainable development. The concept is operationalised by means of scientific inquiry and consultation of experts providing a valid evaluation of planned infrastructure projects.
The first stage of the research project delivered the theoretical fundament and the prototype for services of social and technical infrastructure (schools respectively road works, water supply and wastewater disposal). Now, in the second phase, the theoretical assumptions will be tested and the manageability of the tool will be improved by practical tests in cooperation with partners from administration. The scientific work in the IRS is furthermore supported by the results of expert-workshops. In addition to that, more checks for additional relevant infrastructures will be implemented.
