Development and evaluation of a methodology for qualitative and quantitative assessment of land consumption based on remote sensing
The aim of this study was to develop a nationwide applicable methodology for a qualitative and quantitative assessment of land consumption and its temporal development. By providing this information this methodology should support decision making in favor of a sustainable land development. The main focus was to provide a defined set of indicators relevant in practice. These indicators can be used within the communal and regional planning as well as in the context of land use planning. Additional to the statistical and geo-data indicators also remote sensing derived information are part of the indicator set and provide the possibility of area-wide spatially high resolution data.
